Maybe it's an asian culture. But as you were growing up, you always heard your mom, your dad, your grandmom, your aunt, your uncle, your teacher, your tutor, your anyone around you telling you every other day that LOOK OUT!!! DONT TALK TO PEOPLE!!! MANY BAD PEOPLE.
OK, now you are grown up. You still hear your mom, your dad, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your husband, your wife, your boss, your NEWS, your everything reminding you over & over- DONT TRUST NO ONE!! PEOPLE ARE BAD. ARE YOU SURE YOU WILL GET YOUR PAYCHECK!!??? ARE YOU SURE THEY ARE NOT OUT TO STEAL YOUR MONEY, YOUR STUFF, YOUR INFO, YOUR BOYFRIEND, YOUR HUSBAND??
Sigh! I think I am a gullible person.
I made a calculation seriously, when I was working in S'pore. By the way, I am not very fond of s'porean, maybe due to the fact I had 2-ex there and I lived with one of their mom before. (hahah!!) Why I was so 'free & crazy" making such a math? Coz I always grew up to think everyone was bad, and they were out to get you!!!!!! Look, just take a look at the people on the street in Asia (e.g HK, Taiwan, China, S'pore) - they all look miserable esp if they are walking alone. They dont smile. They look so alarmed always. Some are even jaded or emotionless or motionless- like a pile of numb corpses walking around.
My calculation conclusion is there are way more good people in the world than bad people. I admit there are people out there that dont have a good conscience. However, the people usually around you, me, them are always, pretty OK! Of coz, I did meet some bad people, but really, very small handful or even a fingerful ONLY.
I hence have been preserving myself not to think bad about people as much as I can. Still, the childhood reminder has lived with me for over 30 odd years, it's not easy just to dump this shit. But I try, try very hard. And I gotta say, my consistency hasnt failed me much yet. And honestly, what's there much for me to lose? Money? Sleep? Body? Life?
I basically use more energy to fend off those reminders from my dad, my mom, my friends, my brother, my sister, my husband, my boyfriend, my wife, my girlfriend, my daughter, my son............................COME ON! When you put into right perspectives, you could live abit lighter each day.
